Modern Warfare 3 Stalker Perk Guide

Modern Warfare 3 GuideIn this Modern Warfare 3 Stalker Perk guide, we will be discussing this perk in detail, going over how to unlock it, what it does (as well as the Pro version) and finally discussing the best strategies for using this gun.

Stalker Perk - How to Unlock and What it Does

The Stalker perk is unlocked as soon as you get access to custom classes. This perk allows you to move much faster while holding down the sights of your gun (i.e. aiming).

The pro version is unlocked by getting 120 kills with Stalker equipped and while holding down the sights. Stalker pro puts a short delay on proximity explosives. This allows you to sprint past Claymores and Bouncing Betties.

Stalker Pro also delays the I.M.S., but unless you are using a shotgun or SMG, you will not be able to skirt by this explosive. Instead, you will be able to see it and back out, whereas other people die as soon as they get too close.

Modern Warfare 3 Stalker Perk - Strategies

The Stalker perk allows you to move at normal movement speed while holding down the sights on your weapon and as a result is one of the best perks in the game for weapons with good mobility.

Since it is based on your movement speed, you can move with good speed with an Assault Rifle or a Sub Machine Gun while holding down the sights. The only downside is you still turn a bit slower, so aiming at close range is still tough.

As a result, you have to balance when you want to hold down the sights and move and when you want to actually keep your aim not held down.

The wider your possible area of engagement, the more you lean towards not aiming all the time, whereas when presented with a narrow range, you want to aim all the time.

What I mean by this is you do not want to traverse open ground holding down on your sights, even if you can move at normal speed. On the other hand, you always want to hold down the sights when headed down a narrow hallway or in between buildings.

The reason for this is on open ground you need to be able to pan your camera quickly to spot enemies and get in their general area before aiming and taking them down. In a hallway or more narrow area of engagement (between buildings, inside a room, etc) your area of engagement narrows, allowing you to take in everything in the room even while aiming and being able to find your targets quick.

This works best with a red dot sight. ACOGs or other scopes either take up too much room on the actual screen to effectively move around while zoomed in.

The other great part about marksman is when you are actually in a head to head engagement - you can strafe while zoomed in. You cannot aim quite quick enough for very close-quarter fights, but for any mid-long range fights, you can strafe faster thanks to Stalker.

The Stalker Pro perk is a nice bonus and practically guarantees you never die to Bouncing Betties, Claymores or I.M.S.

Modern Warfare 3 Stalker Perk Conclusion

The Stalker perk is great for anyone using an Assault Rifle or longer-range SMG like the UMP45 as it allows you to strafe faster and hold the sights down when you are going through tight areas. It pairs best with Hardline or Assassin as this is a good perk to use if you do not already have Quickdraw equipped.
