In this Modern Warfare 3 Sleight of Hand guide, you are going to
discover everything you need to know about this perk and its pro version. We will start with its function and
how to unlock it and the pro version and then reveal the best combos and situations to use this perk in.
Modern Warfare 3 Sleight of Hand Function
Sleight of Hand is one of the perks belonging to Slot 1 in Modern Warfare 3. This particular perk allows you to
reload a weapon much faster. The pro version allows you to switch between weapons in a fraction of a second.
Modern Warfare 3 Sleight of Hand - How to Unlock
Sleight of Hand is one of the starting perks you get access to as soon as you get custom classes at level 4.
Once you get 120 kills with the Sleight of Hand perk equipped, you unlock the pro version.
Modern Warfare 3 Sleight of Hand - Strategies
The Sleight of Hand perk is one of the most misunderstood perks in Modern Warfare 3. For some reason, many
players are under the impression that slow reloading weapons like the Light Machine Gun benefit more from Sleight
of Hand than fast-loading weapons like Assault Rifles and Sub Machine Guns. Nothing could be further from the
truth.
Sleight of Hand is really only useful when you need to reload in a combat situation. LMGs are the last class of
weapon you want to use Sleight of Hand with - they have a 100 round clip. If you have to reload in combat you need
to aim better.
Additionally, the longer the reload time of a weapon, the worse Sleight of Hand actually becomes. LMGs reload so
slow that if you are being shot at when you need to reload, you are probably going to die regardless, simply
because even with Sleight of Hand equipped it will still take you ~3 seconds to reload some of the slower LMGs.
Instead, Sleight of Hand is best used on guns with very small clips which tend to run out of ammo quickly,
regardless of reload time. This is often the case with Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and Semi-Automatics.
For example, the Barrett .50cal only has 8 bullets in its chamber but has a fairly slow reload time. Sleight of
Hand can be very useful here, especially if you are going with an ACOG or Varied Scope (i.e. quick scope)
build.
Additionally, if you are using a fully automatic weapon in Team Deathmatch or Ground War, you can often burn
through your clip when you run into 2 or more players at once. Sleight of Hand is a necessity in these situations
to survive.
On the other hand, not every Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle needs Sleight of Hand. If you are using a burst fire
Assault Rifle like the Type 95 or a bolt-action Assault Rifle, a single clip should last you more than long enough
to be able to take out multiple enemies should you find yourself in that situation.
Additionally, you have to consider how good you are as a player. The better you get, the longer you live and the
more accurate your aim becomes. As you get more accurate, you will need less bullets to take out opponents.
Eventually, if you are better than the average player, you may find Sleight of Hand to be less useful. Instead,
you might want to switch over to Scavenger as when you live longer, you can end up using all the ammo in your
weapon.
Finally, Sleight of Hand Pro can be really useful when using the Overkill perk, which allows you to hold two
primary weapons. A common way to use this is to use a Sniper Rifle or LMG as your primary weapon and keep a Shotgun
equipped as your secondary weapon. This way, whenever someone comes into melee range, you can quickly swap out to a
Shotgun and use it almost right away thanks to Sleight of Hand Pro.
Modern Warfare 3 Sleight of Hand Pro Conclusion
The Sleight of Hand perk is great for weapons which tend to run out of ammo during engagements and for new
players. Sleight of Hand is not ideal for LMGs, as you should not need to reload in combat situations with this
weapon.
Just remember that cutting a weapon's reload time from 6 seconds to 3 seconds is a worthless time saver - in
both situations you should find somewhere safe before reloading as 3 seconds of downtime is more than enough time
for an opponent to take you out.
