Modern Warfare 3 SitRep Perk Guide
In this Modern Warfare 3 SitRep Perk guide, we will be going over
everything you need to know about this perk. We still start with how to unlock it and the pro version, explain
what they do, then finally reveal the best strategies for using this perk.
Modern Warfare 3 SitRep Perk - How to Unlock & Function
The SitRep perk occupies Perk Slot 3 and highlights enemy explosives. It is unlocked by hitting level 19. When
this perk is active, enemy explosives and traps turn red. You can also see them marked off through walls.
The pro version of SitRep is unlocked by destroying 50 enemy traps highlighted by SitRep (i.e. Claymores,
bouncing betty, etc). One good way to unlock this is to equip EMP grenades, so you can toss an EMP each time you
run across an enemy trap.
The Pro version of the perk increases the volume of enemy footsteps. If the enemy in question has Dead Silence,
these two perks will cancel out.
Modern Warfare 3 SitRep Perk - Strategies
In all honesty, I do not think that the Modern Warfare 3 SitRep perk is all that useful. There are two reasons
for this: the effects do not synergize and they are not powerful enough.
As far as synergy is concerned SitRep and SitRep Pro make no sense in that they do not seem to benefit each
other. SitRep helps you see enemy equipment and traps, whereas the pro version makes enemy footsteps louder. There
is no real connection between these two.
The second problem is that both effects are fairly weak. Seeing enemy explosives is not really all that
beneficial in most game modes; you can escape dying to traps by using Stalker Pro (another slot 3 perk) and get the
great effect of highly increased movement speed while aiming.
The SitRep Pro effect is also fairly useless, aside from FFA modes. Increasing the sound of enemy footsteps
really does not help all that much, as the sound of footsteps does not really indicate if a person is in front of
you, behind you, above you, or below you. Perhaps this is different with a surround sound system, but I am not
playing on one and I think it is safe to say that the average MW3 player is not using surround sound.
The best way I can think of to use this perk is actually to try to unlock some of the explosion-related
achievements. If you can see a claymore through a wall and know a person standing right next to it, shooting that
claymore through the wall to kill the player becomes much easier.
In the grand scheme of things though, there just are not any viable builds where you would want to use SitRep
over any other perk. Marksman is much better for Snipers, Steady Aim for SMGs and Shotguns, and Stalker for Assault
Rifles and LMGs.
Modern Warfare 3 SitRep Guide Conclusion
The bottom line is that there is not really any go-to situations where you would actually want to use the SitRep
perk. The only reason you might use this is to unlock some challenges related to destroying enemy explosives.
