Modern Warfare 3 Quickdraw Guide

Modern Warfare 3 GuideIn this CoD Modern Warfare 3 Quickdraw guide, we will be discussing everything you need to know about the Quickdraw perk in MW3. We will start with its function and unlocking it and then go onto the best guns and situations to use Quickdraw with.

Quickdraw Perk - How to Unlock & Function

The Quickdraw perk is one of the starting perks in Modern Warfare 3. It cuts the time in half it takes for you to aim, allowing you to aim much faster. It is one of the best perks in the game.

The Quickdraw Pro perk is unlocked by getting 80 kills with not only Quickdraw equipped, but also within a few seconds of holding down the sights. This perk allows you to shoot again faster after throwing grenades or using equipment (i.e. calling in a UAV).

Modern Warfare 3 Quickdraw Perk - When to Use

Quickdraw is arguably the best perk in Modern Warfare 3. It is the only perk in slot 2 which directly increases the effectiveness of your character. If you come around a corner and see an opponent, and both of you are not holding down the sights, all other things equal the person with Quickdraw will win every time.

I would consider Quickdraw a mandatory perk for everyone except when using a hip-fire build with an SMG or Shotgun (typically Assassin is better in this situation) or when using Stalker (tier 3 perk), which allows you to move fast enough while holding down the sights that you can actually round corners and strafe effectively with the sights held down.

Personally, I like Stalker & Hardline for Assault Rifles (at least in Team Deathmatch) whereas I like Quickdraw for Sniper Rifles or anytime I am not using Stalker.

The reason for this is simple: when the sights are held down, due to the console's limitations, you can only aim so fast. Even if you are perfect, there is still some lag in getting your sight on the right spot.

The best players will aim first without zooming in (your character without Stalker turns significantly faster when not aiming), then hold down the sights, then shoot. Quickdraw naturally cuts down the amount of time needed for aiming.

This practice is known as quick-scoping, and is extremely effective with a Sniper Rifle. Basically the person is not waiting for the picture to load to line up their aim perfectly but instead is able to line up their aim perfectly without zooming in at all. When they zoom in, they fire as soon as they zoom, without waiting to see where they are aiming. With enough practice, you will not even need to see how the scope is lined up as you will be able to line it up prior to aiming. This allows you to get an instant kill.

Quickdraw is necessary to do this effectively, as it significantly speeds up the amount of time it takes to quick scope. Without Quickdraw, it is hard to hit a moving target with a quick scope as a strafer will often move out of the way of your shot if you are trying to quick scope without Quickdraw.

Modern Warfare 3 Quickdraw Guide

At the end of the day, Quickdraw is one of the best perks you get access to in Modern Warfare 3. The trick to making the most out of Quickdraw is to get good at quick scoping as well as to choose between Quickdraw and Stalker. These two perks overlap a lot, so you will want to pick one or the other.
