Modern Warfare 3 Marksman Perk Guide
In this Modern Warfare 3 Marksman Guide, we will be going over the
Modern Warfare 3 Marksman perk, discussing what it does, how to unlock it (and the pro version) and revealing
the best weapons to use this perk with.
Modern Warfare 3 Marksman Perk - Unlocking & Function
The Marksman perk occupies Perk Slot 3 and is one of the starting perks in Modern Warfare 3. You unlock it as
soon as you get access to custom classes at level 4. This particular perk will show the red names of enemy players
from a long range away.
The pro version of the perk is unlocked by getting 50 kills while holding your breath with any weapon with
Marksman equipped. This does not have to be a Sniper Rifle - any weapon works for this.
Modern Warfare 3 Marksman Perk - Best Strategies and Combos
The Marskman perk does not sound like much at first glance, but the truth it actually does make spotting players
much easier. It does make seeing players much easier from range. The reason for this is that it will often show the
names for players who are obstructed by visuals but not anything physical.
In other words, a player could be hidden by laying down in the brush or be blocked from your view due to tree
leaves, but their red name will appear and come through that cover, allowing you to spot at shoot at any sliver of
their avatar that you might be able to discern by seeing their name.
For the most part, this perk is best for those using Sniper Rifles. However, it also works decently for Assault
Rifles. The only thing is if you want to use an Assault Rifle that means you have to give up Stalker. If you do not
want to use Stalker, you need to use Quickdraw for Perk Slot 2, as discussed at length in our Quickdraw
article.
This perk works well when using scopes without zoom. If you are using an ACOG on the Sniper Rifle for example,
this perk makes spotting players much easier. The same goes for using a burst-fire Assault Rifle with a Red Dot
sight.
Marksman also is great for people using a Sniper Rifle even with a scope. Oftentimes you will see a name appear
in the distance which gives you the queue to zoom in and shoot them. Additionally, Marksman Pro is great for scoped
sniper rifle play, as it lets you hold your breath for twice as long. Your standard amount of breath is more than
enough to take out an enemy, but in 2v1 and 3v1 situations, the extra breath duration can definitely help.
To summarize everything said above, Marksman works well for Assault Rifle users (particularly burst fire guns
like the Type 95 or the single-shot MK-14) who are using Quickdraw in perk slot 2. Players who are using Hardline
or Assassin should stick to Stalker or Steady Aim and stay away from Marksman.
Modern Warfare 3 Marksman Conclusion
The Marksman perk in Modern Warfare 3 works quite well for Sniper Rifles of all sorts and Assault Rifle players
who are using Quickdraw. If you are not using a Sniper Rifle or do not have Quickdraw equipped, there are better
options for you.
