Modern Warfare 3 Dead Silence Perk Guide
In this Modern Warfare 3 Dead Silence perk guide, we will be
discussing everything you need to know about this perk. We will go over how to unlock it and the pro version,
what they do, and the best strategies for using each of these perks.
Modern Warfare 3 Dead Silence Perk - How to Unlock & Function
The Dead Silence perk occupies Perk Slot 3 and is unlocked by reaching level 55. This particular perk makes your
footsteps nearly silent (unless the person is using Sitrep Pro) and reduces the Recon Perk from lasting for 12
seconds to 6 seconds.
The Pro version is unlocked by getting 50 kills at a close range with Dead Silence equipped. This can be both
knifing and gun kills. The pro version removes falling damage.
Modern Warfare 3 Dead Silence Perk Guide
To be completely forward, Dead Silence is one of the worst perks in MW3. There is absolutely no reason to use it
other than to unlock challenges.
First off, very few maps in MW3 actually feature terrain high enough to take fall damage, making the Pro perk a
non-factor in nearly all in-game situations. Sure, you could fall off the hill / wood platform in Mission, but for
the most part, you are not going to need to jump from very high on any of the current MW3 maps.
Additionally, players have to choose between Dead Silence and Steady Aim. Nearly all close-quarter battle builds
require Steady Aim since they involve firing from the hip (why even bother getting that close to an enemy just to
hold down the sights?).
As a final detriment against Dead Silence, players in most games are not going to realize if it is your
footsteps or their allies' footsteps. Additionally, the sound of footsteps does not tell you in what direction the
opponent is. In short, the effect of reducing footstep sound is not all that big of a deal.
Dead Silence might be somewhat important in Free For All modes, where there is no such thing as friendly
footsteps, but even then I think I would prefer Steady Aim or Stalker Pro.
Modern Warfare 3 Dead Silence Perk Conclusion
While the Dead Silence perk in Modern Warfare 3 makes your footsteps quieter, this effect just is not
significant enough to justify using over Steady Aim, Stalker, or Marksman.
